Matthew is a native of Dunn, NC. In 1997, he graduated with honors from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Accounting degree. He completed a Master of Accounting degree in 1998 from North Carolina State University and was selected as the Outstanding Master of Accounting Student by the university’s accounting faculty that year. He joined TRP Sumner in 1999 after working for KPMG, LLP in their assurance area. Matthew was admitted as a partner in 2003.

Matthew works with a variety of businesses and individuals, providing client-specific tax planning, compliance, business advisory and financial reporting services. He leads the firm’s acquisition team and serves as chair of the firm’s Tax Policy Committee. 

In his free time, Matthew enjoys reading, hiking, going on road trips with his family and spending time at the beach.
