Matthew brings a blue collar work ethic to the construction team, shaped by athletics, chores on a family farm, and hands-on internship experiences. His time as a project management intern in the construction industry, where he validated aspects of building projects and communicated with managers, subcontractors, and inspectors, sparked his interest in supporting the sector through accounting. “Construction is about building strong foundations, much like accounting ensures the stability of businesses,” says Matthew. As a personable leader who guides through positivity, encouragement, adaptability, and ambition, he is excited to contribute to TRP Sumner’s construction niche.
At TRP Sumner, Matthew provides tax preparation and planning services, drawing on his expertise in financial accounting, taxation, and audit. He focuses on helping construction clients navigate complex tax regimes, informed by his prior internships in tax compliance, real estate, and international tax.
Matthew earned his Master of Accounting from North Carolina State University’s Poole College of Management in 2023 and his Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 2022, graduating with a 4.0 GPA and eight-time Dean’s List honors. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
