Kelly joined TRP Sumner’s Fayetteville office in 1982. He previously served as Managing Partner, guiding the firm to significant new growth and accomplishments. In 2024, Kelly was selected by Forbes magazine as one of America’s Top 200 CPAs, based on criteria that included expertise, innovation, thought leadership and experience, as well as service to the community and their profession.

Kelly’s practice experience includes working with a variety of businesses in the areas of tax planning, financial reporting and management advisory services. With his focus on the construction industry, he provides companies with valuable guidance in all areas of their business, from how to maximize their bonding plans to strengthening their internal control systems. For the health care industry, Kelly advises medical practices in areas such as benefit analysis and accounts receivable monitoring. He also has significant experience working with government contractors in all phases, from start-up to successfully structuring their business and system designs to comply with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).

Before joining TRP Sumner, Kelly began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP in Winston-Salem, NC. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Virginia.
