IRS Develops Tool to Register for Economic Impact Payments!

In efforts to help individuals who normally don’t file a tax return receive their Economic Impact Payments, the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service have developed a new online tool designed to gather the basic information needed to register for the payments.

The process is quick and easy. (Click the link below)

STEP 1: Visit www.irs.gov and look for “Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here”. This can be found on the IRS’ homepage.
STEP 2: Provide basic information including Social Security number, name, address, and dependents.
STEP 3: Enter your banking information to allow for direct deposit of your payment directly into your account. Otherwise, your payment will be mailed to you.

Who should use the non-filer tool?
* Individuals who did not file a 2018 or 2019 tax return.
* Individuals who don’t receive Social Security retirement or disability benefits or Railroad Retirement benefits.

Please note if someone else can claim you as a dependent. You may not file for the Economic Impact Payment.

What’s Coming Next?

The amount of the payment is $1,200 for single individuals or $2,400 for married couples. An additional $500 is included for each qualifying child.

COMING SOON: Expected to be available by April 17, 2020 is a second tool titled “GET MY PAYMENT” which will provide individuals with the ability to check the status of their payment as well as the scheduled date their payment should be deposited into their bank account or be mailed to them.
